We are an independent English certification body based in London. Our mission is to give every person in the world a credible, affordable, and genuinely useful proof of their English ability.
Born from a simple
frustration.
The existing English certification landscape was designed for one purpose: university admissions. Exams that test academic reading skills, obscure grammatical constructions, and formal written register.
For the doctor who speaks fluent English but needs proof for a hospital trust. For the police officer who writes excellent reports. For the engineer who presents to international clients every week. These people had no good option.
London International School was founded to fix that. We built certifications that prove the English people actually use — at work, in their specialist fields, and in everyday life.
Our guiding principles
Real English, not academic English
We built our assessments around the language people actually use — in hospitals, courtrooms, offices, and daily life. Grammar rules and reading comprehension have their place; proving your English to an employer does not require them.
Independence above all
LIS certificates are not tied to any government scheme, immigration service, or university. That independence is deliberate. It means your certificate is yours — portable, permanent, and verifiable by anyone, anywhere.
Specialist depth
A generic English cert cannot prove that a nurse can conduct a patient handover or that a police officer can write an accurate incident report. Our specialist certs are built from the ground up for the scenarios you actually face.
